Attendance
Research proves that there is a very clear relationship between excellent school attendance and academic achievement. Year after year, the learners with the best school attendance achieve the best results. We are passionate about providing learners with the best possible life chances.
Learners with attendance above 96% are more likely to:
- Be appointed to a well-paid job
- Make the best progress in their subjects
- Develop good habits for work and wider life
- Achieve higher than average grades in their statutory assessments
- Secure a place at a college, University or a training course
- Maintain strong and sound friendships
Parents, carers and families are therefore asked to ensure that their young person is in school every day of term.
In the rare case that this is not possible please ensure that you:
- Notify us by 9am on the day of any absence
- Make appointments outside school hours, where possible, and give evidence of appointments made
- Complete an 'under the weather' form so that we can keep a closer eye on your child should they be a little off-colour, but well enough to give school a go!
- Are aware a request for exceptional leave will need to meet a set of requirements and that you must provide evidence - very few exceptional requests will be authorised
- Are aware that any term time holidays will not be authorised and will be referred for a fine in line with government guidance
- Are aware that 5 days of unauthorised absence across a 10-week rolling period may be referred for a fine
For some children we acknowledge that attending school every day will be harder than for others. This is why here at Hayes Park we are committed to working in partnership with our families to solve problems and support your child’s school attendance. Please speak to the attendance office if your child is struggling to come for any reason as we have a range of support we can offer including: pastoral support, transition groups, access to our learning mentor, support from Bear the school dog and access to a range of wider services.
